Angela’s ‘special’ ABCs
This is a special post for my friend and neighbour, Paul-Enguerrand Fady (aged 15).
He asks, following the posts on advice and advise, practice and practise, licence and license:
‘What is the difference between defence and defense?’
The answer is very simple: defence is the UK spelling while defense is the US spelling.
The same goes for offence (UK spelling) and offense (US spelling).
Thanks a lot Angela, I am sure Paul-Enguerrand will be pleased that you took time to consider his problem
It was a pleasure! If he, or you, have any other questions, I’d be more than happy to answer them on the blog.
I think you may have become a Kiwiphile Angela
I do love New Zealand, but I love England too and I’m really torn between the two!
Oh right! Thanks so much;I finally know which one to use!
Thanks very much for your reply! I was glad that the explanation was such an easy one. If you have any more questions, just let me know. AC
